Egg Retrieval Risks & Considerations

Medications and Surgery have possible side effects and associated risks

Egg retrieval is a surgical procedure, and as with any surgical procedure, there is a minimal amount of risk. The donor is given fertility medications and studies have shown no increased cancer risk in women that have taken fertility medications. A woman is born with 1-2 million eggs, and by the time she reaches puberty, she has 300,000 eggs. Donating a small number of eggs to another woman does not decrease a woman’s chance of conceiving a child in the future or reaching menopause sooner.

We make every effort to answer your questions and concerns throughout your entire donor experience with us. Please feel free to ask any question at any time.
